Todays Radio Islam Digital Lifestyle returned today after a 2 week break.
A common question with our listeners is the difference between an ADSL Modem and a Router.
Short answer: A modem plugs directly into your PC, while a router allows you to connect multiple devices to it and if the router supports wifi, you can connect your tablets, cellphones and laptops.
You’d want to get a router over a modem. Your typical ADSL router with WiFi and 4 Ethernet ports cost R400 upwards.
Cellphone Price Drops
Recently Vodacom and CellC lowered their prepaid call rates to 99c a minute. With Vodacom billing per minute and offering free late night calls (midnight to 5am) and Cell C billing per second.
Smart ID Cards
Its finally happening, government is set to begin replacing ID books with Smart ID Cards from 2014. This is one life-admin fee I’ll gladly pay for. It opens the doors to many more possibilities.
Social Networking and your children

Its either too much freedom or too little. Some parents will simply block everything resulting in their kids finding alternative and losing their trust. Others simply give in and let them have their own way.
This article by Cerebra shares a few guidelines to strike a perfect balance.
